Biography

Sonja Engdahl is a collage artist living and working in Boston, Massachusetts. She started cutting things up as soon as she was old enough to hold a pair of scissors, and she hasn't stopped since. Her work has been featured at Projekt30 gallery online and at AS220 gallery in Providence.

Amazingly enough, Rhode Island is the furthest south that Sonja has managed to live, despite her love of summer. She was born in Vermont, went to college in Amherst MA (Hampshire College), and spent a year in Iceland.

Sonja's works to create a narrative feeling - each piece is a snapshot of a larger imagined story, some realistic, and some dreamlike. Her influences include Sabrina Ward Harrison, Robert Rauschenberg, Hannah Hoch, and Frida Kahlo.
